Monday, January 16th marked this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service and Cloudland Canyon participated by “mulching the mountain”. Park staff and several Friends volunteers helped beautify the park and decrease stormwater runoff and erosion by transporting and spreading mulch around two of the pavilions in the day use area.

On Thursday evening, December 15th, Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park hosted our annual holiday potluck at the group shelter. Wow, the food was amazing. Thank you to everyone who came and especially to those who shared their culinary talents. And a special thank you to Dena and the awesome group of volunteers who put this event together. It was a wonderful evening.
FALL FUN – Hayrides & More! 2016 was a huge success! Every Saturday from September 24 through November 12, we offered a family-friendly day with hayrides, temporary tattoos, bubbles, ring toss, coloring, bean bag toss, hula hoops, and more. Over 850 people rode our haywagon through the woods and spied the ghosts and pumpkin-head hikers along the trail.
George Williams managed the event and many Friends stepped up to volunteer to drive the tractor, sell tickets and snacks, and supervise the activities. Connie Ward and the Fine Neighbors String Band provided bluegrass entertainment on several Saturday afternoons.
Looking forward to an even bigger event next year!
